When you replace your windshield, there are multiple factors that you need to take into consideration. You need to decide if you want an aftermarket or OEM window installed, where you want the service done, and how you are going to pay for the service.

#1 Type of Windshield

First, you need to consider what type of windshield you want to use in your vehicle. The easiest option is to go with an aftermarket window. Most dealerships should carry an aftermarket window that will your vehicle. They are easy to access and affordable. An aftermarket window will fit your vehicle; it just may look a little bit different.

Or you can get an OEM, which means original equipment manufacturer window. This windshield will look exactly like your current windshield, including any markings and shadings that are specific to the manufacture of your vehicle. It may take some time for the auto body shop to get in an OEM windshield.

#2 Where You Want the Service Done

Second, you need to determine where you want to get the service done. You can take your vehicle to an auto body or windshield repair shop and wait for the work to be done. Or you can use the services of a mobile windshield repair company, who will come out to where your vehicle is and fix your windshield for you.

Either way, don't plan on driving for a few hours after the windshield is put in place. The glue is going to need to set and settle before you start driving with your new windshield.

#3 How You Want to Pay

Finally, you need to determine how you want to pay for your windshield replacement. Some insurance companies offer special windshield coverage that allows you to easily get your windshield fixed and others offer zero-deductible repairs for your windshield.

Or you can pay out of pocket for your windshield replacement. Some companies will even allow you to set-up a payment plan for the service.

When you need to have your windshield replaced, you need to decide if you want to wait to get an OEM window installed or just use an aftermarket window. Determine if you want to go to a service center or have a mobile windshield operation come to you and replace your windshield. Finally, you need to determine how you want to pay for it. You can see if your insurance will cover the costs, or you can pay out of pocket for the replacement.
